Regular Parade Night (June 11th)

Hello Parents/Guardians & Cadets,

Below are the announcements for this week. Please read this email along with the respective attachments in their entirety. This Thursday will consist of practice periods in preparation for the Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR). Cadets are reminded to eat before attending in other to ensure they are energized for the extended periods of drill that will be done over the course of the evening.

Dress is C1 (Blue Dress Uniform with medals. Blue dress shirt and tie is REQUIRED), This will be the dress for the remainder of the year. Cadets are to ensure they arrive wearing ALL uniform parts. If your cadet is missing a part, they MUST report to Supply to obtain it. If a uniform part is not fitting properly, the cadet MUST report to supply to coordinate an exchange with the Supply Officer. Cadets are always to bring with them a water bottle, a notebook, and a pen/pencil to take notes during their training. A reminder that doors will open at 6:30 pm to cadets. Please ensure that your cadets do not arrive earlier than this time. 

At the end of the evening, doors will open to parents at 8:55 pm for our final announcements for the evening, and cadets will be dismissed at 9:15.

ANNUAL CEREMONIAL REVIEW JUNE 13TH

27 Squadron will be celebrating the 84th graduation or Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) as part of our mandatory training on June 13, 2026. ALL cadets are expected to participate in this ceremony. Please refer to TEAMS regarding more detail about location and time.

Cadets are required to have breakfast prior to being dropped off. Lunch will be provided prior to the ceremony for cadets. Water will be provided for refilling personal water bottles. Parents / Guardians, family members, guests and everyone you would like to invite are to arrive at the arena for 12:30 seating as the ceremony will start at 1300 hrs (1:00 pm). This event will be approximately 90 minutes followed by light refreshments and photo opportunities.

BAND PRACTICE / MUSIC TRAINING

There will be a final band practice this Friday for the Annual Ceremonial Review. Band cadets are expected to bring their music and instruments. Please refer to TEAMS for more detail.

DECORATION DAY FLAG PLACING FRIDAY JUNE 12TH AND SUNDAY JUNE 14TH

The Byron-Springbank Legion has asked for the support of 27 Squadron in placing Canadian Flags on the graves of fallen soldiers as part of Decoration Day commemorations. Flag placing will take place Friday, June 12th at 6:30 PM. The flags will be picked up on Sunday, June 14th at 6:30 PM. The dress for the placing and collection of the flags is C5 (Greens). Please refer to TEAMS for more detail regarding the location. The dress for the ceremony will be C1. We are looking for 20-30 cadets for this activity on both days and for the ceremony. Signup will be done via a physical sheet this Thursday.

SUMMER TRAINING INFORMATION FOR PARENTS OF CADETS ATTENDING A CTC THIS SUMMER

For the parents of cadets that will be attending summer training this summer, there will be an information session this Thursday evening at 2000 hrs (8 pm) to answer any questions about what to expect for the summer training at a cadet training centre, review joining instructions, discuss travel details and other items.

AWARDS BANQUET JUNE 18TH

Thursday June 18^th will be the final parade night of the year. It will be an Awards Night and Dinner. Dress will be C1 (Dress Blue Uniform). Please refer to TEAMS for more detail regarding location and timing.

FOOD DRIVE

If you are able, please consider supporting the London Food Bank in donating items to support the squadron food drive. See attached poster for more details on TEAMS.

CONCERN REPORT FORM

In the event of an issue or concern that took place at cadets, cadets and parents may submit the linked form to CV Hayes so that it can be addressed, resolved and any necessary support or resources may be provided. The form is on TEAMS and anonymous, and confidentiality will be respected.

ABSENCE REPORTING AND ATTENDANCE

If your cadet is unable to attend a training night, please ensure that an absence report form is filled out to excuse their absence. It is important to note that once a cadet has been absent for over 30 days without an excused absence (4 consecutive weeks of unexcused absences), they will be removed from the effective strength of the unit. CADET365, ROUTINE ORDERS, CHAIN OF COMMAND

It is important that your cadet is checking their Cadet365 Outlook and Microsoft Teams regularly to ensure they are receiving the most up-to-date information. Each week, weekly routine orders  (see attachment for your reference) will be distributed via their cadet email detailing the upcoming week's training along with any additional information for upcoming events and activities. It is expected that ALL cadets read this document. If they have difficulty accessing their account, please reach out via email to Lt Amoah (charles.amoah@cadets.gc.ca) as soon as account access issues are encountered. 

It important that cadets begin to take the initiative to read communications and communicate with their superiors when they have questions. Each cadet has been added to a flight which has a senior cadet in charge. They can communicate with their flight seniors via their designated flight Microsoft Teams channel they have been added to. This ensures streamlined communication channels and efficient responses to questions, issues or concerns. Cadets should not be reaching out to adult staff directly to seek answers to minor questions or information that is addressed in the routine orders or can easily be answered by their senior cadet in charge. Communications of this nature from cadets will not be responded to, but rather redirected to the appropriate level in their chain of command. 

Parents are always encouraged and able to reach out if they have questions or concerns; however we encourage you to give your cadet the responsibility of staying informed, clarifying information using their chain of command and keeping you informed, as it is an important life skill they should be developing that will serve them well beyond the cadet program.

DRESS INSTRUCTIONS

For details on how to wear the uniform correctly in accordance with the set standard, cadets are required to consult the Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers (CJCR) Dress Instructions. This should be the primary reference for what the standard is for hair, facial hair and placement of insignia and badges. If a cadet is confused by what is presented in the instructions, they can use their chain of command to direct their question to a senior cadet of the Standards department for further clarification.
