Hello Cadets/Parents,
Dress is C1 (Blue Dress Uniform with medals), C5 (Green Field Training Uniform) if no C1 dress, or white shirt and black pants, if your cadet has not been issued C1 or C5. Cadets are always to bring with them a water bottle, a notebook, and a pen/pencil to take notes during their training. A reminder that doors will open at 6:30 pm to cadets. Please ensure that your cadets do not arrive earlier than this time.
At the end of the evening, doors will open to parents at 8:50 pm for our final announcements for the evening, and cadets will be dismissed at 9:15.
FALL FIELD TRAINING EXERCISE (OCT 4-5)
27 RCACS will participate in an Aircrew Survival training exercise as part of the required elemental training program. Cadets will participate in activities that develop competency in survival skills in the field. More details on the location, drop-off/pick-up times, documents to bring, etc. are shared on TEAMS for your information.
CADET365 AND WEEKLY ROUTINE ORDERS
All credentials have been sent out to all new recruits. It is important that your cadet is checking their Cadet365 Outlook and Microsoft Teams regularly to ensure they are receiving the most up-to-date information. Each week, weekly routine orders (see attachment for your reference) will be distributed via their cadet email detailing the upcoming week's training along with any additional information for upcoming events and activities. It is expected that ALL cadets read this document. If they have difficulty accessing their account, please reach out via email to Lt Amoah (charles.amoah@cadets.gc.ca) as soon as account access issues are encountered.
DRILL TEAM PRACTICE
Drill Team Practice occurs every Wednesday. Please refer to TEAMS for more details regarding the location, time, etc. Dress is civilian attire, and this activity is open to all cadets. Participation in the drill team provides cadets with an opportunity to make new friends, develop strong attention-to-detail skills and discipline, while learning cool precision drill that will be displayed at an area-wide competition and at the local squadron. All cadets are highly encouraged to participate.
ABSENCE REPORTING AND ATTENDANCE
If your cadet is unable to attend a training night, please ensure that an absence report form is filled out to excuse their absence. It is important to note that once a cadet has been absent for over 30 days without an excused absence (4 consecutive weeks of unexcused absences), they will be removed from the effective strength of the unit. The absence report form can be found here: https://forms.office.com/r/dRVZ6q3QDB
DRESS INSTRUCTIONS
For details on how to wear the uniform correctly in accordance with the set standard, cadets are required to consult the Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers (CJCR) Dress Instructions. This should be the primary reference for what the standard is for hair, facial hair and placement of insignia and badges. If a cadet is confused by what is presented in the instructions, they can use their chain of command to direct their question to a senior cadet of the Standards department for further clarification. Dress instructions can be found here: https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/services/cadets-junior-canadian-rangers/cjcr-policy/cjcr-dress-instructions.html
PARKING LOT SAFETY DURING PICKUP AND DROPOFF
Due to the limited number of parking spaces at HMCS PREVOST, not all vehicles will be able to park. In order to ensure the safety of cadets, and ensure the lot remains accessible in the event of an emergency, it is advised that you park along Becher St if there are no more parking spaces available. In addition, the accessibility parking spaces MUST be left open to accommodate those that actually require it. Under no circumstance should any vehicle be using these spaces as temporary parking spaces to wait for their cadet.
